Chairman Message

In my role as chairman of the board of the Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra), I hope to strengthen Alhamra's position as Lahore's most appreciated cultural and creative center.

Through inclusive, diverse programming that incorporates the best of our country's cultural expressions with those from around the world, Alhamra will give our passionate arts community a platform that is at once local and global. Music performances ranging from Qawali to K-Pop to Ghazals to Flamenco will be showcased quarterly to provide a wide variety of entertainment.

In order to expand the theatre community, we will need to facilitate rich content ranging from local adaptations of Shakespeare to Punjabi folklore theatre.
As art is integral to the mission of the Alhamra, we will curate fewer but more qualitative exhibitions in the Ustad Allah Bakhsh Gallery and at the Alhamra Museum.

For the acquisition of art, we will seek support from philanthropists to bolster our already significant collection.

Currently, Alhamra on the Mall has a bookshop, and we are planning to add a gift shop along with a tea room to make Alhamra a place for cultural stimulation and for meeting friends and family.

As we embark on newer, bolder steps to make Alhamra a place that you can all enjoy, we appreciate your support and feedback.

  Mr. Razi Ahmed

Executive Director

The art and culture of a country are the outward manifestation of its people's collective pride and identity, built over centuries by both physical and mental forces. Pakistan has the best recognition for its literature and culture worldwide: a small example is that Lahore was awarded the status of "The City of Literature" by UNESCO for its love for literature and culture.

This is the reason why the greatness and success of a nation are measured by its cultural development. Culture and arts have changed evolution over time is an apparent reality, but the foundation remains the same. Alhamra, a cultural institution. is a platform for the young generation and talent, where people of every age, city. and religion can develop their skills.

We believe that if the ability can be motivated to lead to positive results, our tomorrow will be very bright and glorious. But to maintain our uniqueness in a constantly changing world, we must move forward with enthusiasm and high morale as a potential force. So that it can be brought to great heights while maintaining the art, culture, and traditions of this region and protecting and developing it.
